CFP: BIAZA Viverrid Workshop

It is with great pleasure that we invite speakers to apply to the upcoming BIAZA Viverrid Workshop- the worlds first event dedicated to knowledge sharing, problem solving, and networking for professionals involved in Viverrid conservation, welfare, and research.

The Viverrid Workshop, co-organised by the BIAZA Mammal Working Group, The Civet Project Foundation, and Dudley Zoo & Castle, is a hybrid event taking place at Dudley Zoo on 23rd and 24th January 2025. 

The two day event has been designed to bring together in-situ and ex-situ perspectives to share and advance current understanding of Viverrid conservation, welfare and public engagement opportunities. 

Held in person with the facilitation of remote presentations (via Zoom), delegates will have the opportunity to attend a full program of lectures, workshops, networking opportunities, and a film screening. 

We are now accepting presentation and workshop submissions and are keen to have representation from IUCN members and other professionals including those working with Viverrids in the wild and within captive settings.

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

• Field updates 

• Viverrid research methods (including new or proven technologies, survey methods, limitations and advances)

• Viverrid veterinary and nutrition information

• Viverrid behaviour and ecology 

• Recognised and proposed species conservation priorities

• Viverrid-human relations (including current threats and conservation opportunities)

• Husbandry and care developments (including captive breeding programs, rehabilitation, and reintroductions)

• Outreach programs (including community engagement, zoo interpretations, and work that engages with industry and policy makers)
